About Me
Why did I start Blogging-
For those who know me, talking is my best and worst talent. I thrive on long conversations with friends and family. My word count for the day reaches as high as 100,000 words or more depending on whom I am talking to. This is one reason for my blog- giving my poor husband a break. He gets the brunt of my 100,000 words and to him, I say Thank you!
Another reason I began Mommy’s on Vacation, is giving me a space I can come to take a quick vacation from all that is going on and tap into my inspirations. The name came from my mother, who on frequent occasions, would take Mommy vacations by going to the bathroom alone and closing the door, teaching us how everyone needs some quiet during the day and showed us through her hobbies that we all have something that inspires us and we should take time to tap into that part of our brains. Sometimes we would be looking for mom again and we would hear her say “Mom’s on vacation”. This has become a frequently used term at our house as well and has been a needed break from the rush of life. I hope you enjoy the collection of all things- crafty, energizing, foody, and spiritual to feed those times when you just need a Mommy Vacation.
My Family-
I am Molly Vanden Top. I have been happily married since 2011 to my husband Matthew. He is a hard-working firefighter who loves keeping busy with odd jobs and helping me keep the kids alive. We have added 3 wonderful kids into our lives; Emma, who is 8, Elizabeth who is 6, Garrett who is 3. They are all spunky, fun-loving kids who love to read, tackle, play barbies or cars, and be silly all the time.

I am a creative, home-loving, and inspiration seeking mom who finds joy in creating beautiful things using simple materials. I find joy when I think through the intricate details of how to bring projects to fruition, see a unique fabric combination, stumble on an old plate or dish that has a purpose yet unknown, paint a picture finding the right detail to emphasize my point or simple stumble on that scripture verse that I have read a million times but God has something else in mind. I see love when I work on projects with my husband and kids and meditate on God’s word. Though I am not the fittest woman in the world I enjoy a good sweat working out or singing and dancing to music with my kids.
Hobbies- (other than talking) reading by a window with the sun pouring in, running, working out, golfing when I can, spending time with my family, cooking, sewing, painting, crafting, and laughing at funny things.
